Skills Training for Emotional Problem Solving for Adolescents (STEPS-A)

DBT for School and Classroom Use:

DBT STEPS-A offers an alternative to Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum without limitations!

A universal curriculum that teaches emotion management strategies, decision making skills, and interpersonal skills at the individual level

Originally developed for non-clinicians to teach at a Tier 1 level

Students are taught skills with a high degree of specificity and with explicit definitions that are geared towards issues and stressors that children and teens face

Drawn from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which is based on the biosocial theory of pervasive emotional dysregulation

Preliminary outcome research supports effectiveness in middle school and high school settings
